Daniel L. Mulkerin MD

Daniel L. Mulkerin, MD, is Professor in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, BMT, and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Mulkerin also serves as Medical Director of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and its regional cancer center network, which includes affiliate sites in communities within Wisconsin and Illinois. This work has allowed him to build and oversee multiple free-standing cancer programs.

Dr. Mulkerin earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.

Dr. Mulkerin specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies, including liver, pancreatic, esophageal, stomach, biliary, colon, rectal, and anal cancers. He is actively involved in the development of new therapies for patients with these diseases.

Dr. Mulkerin serves as the group leader for the UWCCC gastrointestinal cancer clinical research team. In this role, he oversees a broad portfolio of clinical trials, assuring patients access to innovative care.

Dr. Mulkerin is a member of the Association of American Cancer Institutes. He also serves on the NCCN Best Practices Committee, the NCCN Affiliate Forum, and the NCCN COVID-19 Vaccination Advisory Committee. Among his accolades, he has been named to Best Doctors in America multiples times and has been recognized for his outstanding clinical care by UW Health with the Patient Experience Physician Champion Award and the Physician Excellence Regional Services Award.
