Aaron Begue, MS, RN, NP-C, is Executive Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).
Mr. Begue has more than 17 years of nursing experience and 13 years of nurse practitioner experience. He has worked for more than 7 years in a director-level position. He received his bachelor of nursing, master’s in nursing, and a post-master’s certificate in nursing all from The Ohio State University College of Nursing.
At MSKCC, the APPs are nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work in nearly every department and practice setting, partnering in the delivery of care to patients. Mr. Begue works with medical staff and organizational leaders to assess current care delivery models and contribute toward improving care delivery and patient access through APP practice.
Prior to joining MSKCC, Mr. Begue was the Director of Advanced Practice at The James Cancer Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He worked to create the first APP structures at each of these 2 institutions which combined the efforts of the physician assistants and the nurse practitioners into one department. Aligning the two provider groups led to improved patient access, increased revenue, decreased turnover, and improved employee and patient satisfaction.
Mr. Begue recently was named as a Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar and was invited to participate in the inaugural American Association of Nurse Practitioners Future Leaders Program. He also currently serves on advisory committees to both NCCN and SullivanCotter, exploring mechanisms for benchmarking APP productivity and quality outcomes.
