David Liebovitz, MD, holds several positions at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, including: Co-Director of the Institute for Augmented Intelligence in Medicine - Center for Medical Education in Data Science and Digital Health; Associate Vice Chair for Clinical Informatics in the Department of Medicine; and Associate Professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine. He also is a member of the Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health. Dr. Liebovitz previously held several operational leadership positions, including Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Chief Medical Information Officer at University of Chicago Medicine.
Dr. Liebovitz received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago, after which he served as a Chief Resident. He is board-certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics.
Dr. Liebovitz's clinical care focus is general internal medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His philosophy is to optimize health quality through specific achievable lifestyle goals augmented by medication or other interventions when necessary. Dr. Liebovtiz has led numerous information technology projects for use in clinical practice and research. His research interests focus on patient safety and clinical informatics, including clinical decision support, patient engagement (including use of AI), preserving confidentiality, and predictive analytics. His work focuses on identifying opportunities to improve safety and quality through application of engineering principles.
Dr. Liebovitz is a member of the NCCN EHR Oncology Advisory Group.
