Randa M. Perkins, MD, MBA, is the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) and Senior Director of Clinical Informatics at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, FL.

Dr. Perkins received her Doctor of Medicine from Florida State University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Perkins is certified by both the American Board of Family Medicine and in Clinical Informatics with the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Perkins has more than a decade of experience in operational clinical informatics, including organizational structuring, clinical decision support design and utilization, and the facilitation and optimization of electronic health records (EHRs). She also is active in clinical practice and sees patients in Moffitt's Ambulatory Internal Medicine Clinic.

In her role as CMIO, Dr. Perkins is responsible for contributing to the long-term vision of IT health systems at Moffitt and the Clinical Informatics Department, which facilitates both implementation and optimization of the EHR and its various uses. Dr. Perkins leads multiple teams of clinical informaticists from a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, nursing, pathology, and more to create, implement, improve, and support the electronic health care system and other clinical applications.

Dr. Perkins' professional interests focus on using her skills and experience in informatics, leadership, medicine, organizational governance, and health care administration to improve patient care. Her goal is to discover new processes for combining medicine and information technology to ensure EHRs provide clinicians with the right information to drive better outcomes.

Dr. Perkins is a member of the NCCN EHR Advisory Group.
