Bethany L. Niell, MD, PhD, is a diagnostic radiologist and Section Chief of Breast Imaging at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Dr. Niell received her medical degree and doctorate of philosophy in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She subsequently completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is board-certified in diagnostic radiology.
Dr. Niell is subspecialty-trained in breast imaging. Her clinical practice involves interpreting mammograms, ultrasound, breast MRI and performing image-guided breast biopsies. Dr. Niell is especially interested in the appropriate utilization of breast imaging, including breast MRI, mammography, and tomosynthesis, based on her background in public health.
Dr. Niell is the Vice Chair of the NCCN Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis Panel.
