Nurse Navigators Charted A Course for Equitable Care in Multiple Myeloma: Simplifying QI to Measure the Impact of Accredited Education
07:30am - 03:45pm EDT - March 31, 2023

Process-level interventions and evidence-based education were interwoven to mitigate disparities in the optimal management of multiple myeloma through pre-modeled and scalable QI-driven interventions and education. To assess the effectiveness this was tested with a QI lite model at a single health system that consists of 5 medium-sized hospitals.  The health system reported the following impact:

  • a 9 out of 10 rating of improved time to diagnosis and time to initiation of therapy
  • an impact of 70% on improvements in clinical trial referrals of underrepresented patient populations
  • that adding dedicated resources improved patient care by 90% and improved access to multiple myeloma care by 70%.
