Company Biography

The Global Colon Cancer Association is proud to partner with nearly 100 patient advocacy organizations, cancer treatment centers, research institutions, and professional societies around the world. GCCA works toward its mission by amplifying and supporting the efforts of our member organizations, by developing adaptable advocacy and educational materials for our members, and by conducting our own advocacy, education, and initiatives that ensure patients are at the center of all policy discussions.

Resources:
Know Your Biomarker is an awareness, education, and advocacy campaign promoting global access to colorectal cancer biomarker testing. GCCA is spreading awareness through HCP office materials and social media, provides plain-language educational materials, and developed an advocacy toolkit to serve as a guide for biomarker testing advocates.

Transforming Policy supports advocates to effect change in CRC policy in their communities. GCCA has collaborated with Policy Wisdom to create Policy Scorecards as a tool to communicate needs and highlight progress with policymakers in their countries. Along with country scorecards, regional training webinars and the Transforming Policy toolkit provide guidance.

Global CRC Congress is an annual event bringing together patients, advocates, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to collaborate and innovate with CRC and health equity experts in the movement for equitable access to colorectal cancer care.

CRC Health Equity Grants offers financial assistance to GCCA members for projects addressing health equity issues in their communities. Past grants have financed a community needs assessment for CRC screening and care in Malawi, CRC screening and diagnostic tests in Lebanon and Nigeria, educational programs for healthcare providers in Kenya and Tanzania, and a CRC policy event in Brazil.

Blue Hat Bow Tie for CRC Awareness, a partnership with the Blue Hat Foundation, is GCCA’s Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month initiative. The program provides educational and promotional materials and a planning toolkit to support members around the world holding CRC awareness events.

Patient Advocacy Mentorship provides expertise and support to individuals and groups looking to fill an unmet need through CRC patient advocacy. The mentorship includes detailed needs assessment and review, customized strategic planning, and financial and in-kind support.

Clinical Trial Awareness provides plain-language educational and awareness materials to promote clinical trial participation and address myths and distrust surrounding clinical trials. GCCA also consults with research institutions to increase diversity in patient recruitment, and address barriers to patient participation and retention in clinical trials.

Colon Cancer Connected is our international online community for people seeking support and information. Our moderators are available to connect people with the resources they need through referral to a local member organization, patient navigation, or other GCCA programs.

The Biosimilars Training Program is a comprehensive training for advocates of all disease states. Leading experts train advocates on the benefits and challenges of biosimilar medicines, and how to ensure the patient is at the heart of biosimilar policies around the world.
