Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO)

Wendy Vogel, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, FAPO, is an oncology nurse practitioner and the Executive Director of Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO). Ms. Vogel also serves as the Director of Association Management at BroadcastMed, a leading healthcare marketplace, with a focus in oncology.

Ms. Vogel received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Tennessee Technological University and her Master of Science in Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at East Tennessee State University. She is a board-certified advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner and a certified family nurse practitioner.

Ms. Vogel has over 20 years of clinical experience. In her current role with APSHO, Ms. Vogel is the society's lead administrator, executing the vision of the Board of Directors and overseeing the operational needs of the organization. She works to empower the thought leaders and skilled clinicians who comprise the society's membership to improve the care of people with cancer through collaborative approaches.

Ms. Vogel previously worked as an oncology nurse practitioner at Ballad Health Cancer Care in Kingsport, Tennessee. She has also served on the Wellmont Medical Associates Board of Directors and chaired several committees, including the Wellmont Medical Associates Advanced Practitioner Committee. Ms. Vogel also was a member of the Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics subcommittee with Ballad Health Systems. Before her time at Ballad, she worked as an oncology nurse practitioner, a sub-investigator, and a research coordinator at Blue Ridge Medical Specialists, PC, in Bristol, Tennessee.

Ms. Vogel is a founding Board member of APSHO. She also is an Associate Editor of the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology (JADPRO) and is extensively involved in JADPRO's annual conference. She is a past-recipient of numerous awards, including the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) “Mary Nowotny Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education” Award, and the American Journal of Nursing “Book of the Year” Award for her work co-editing the Advanced Oncology Nursing Certification Review and Resource Manual: Instructor's Resource. Ms. Vogel has published extensively, has given numerous lectures, and has served on several boards and advisory committees.
