Tuya Pal, MD, is Professor of Medicine and an Ingram Professor of Cancer Research at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she is also the Associate Director for Cancer Health Disparities at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.
Dr. Pal earned her medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She completed a fellowship in clinical genetics at the Hospital for Sick Children/University of Toronto and a research fellowship in cancer genetics at the Women’s College Research Institute, also located in Toronto.

Dr. Pal’s research interests research has focused on inherited cancer risks across basic and clinical services as well as health services delivery, including efforts in underserved populations. These include a focus on alternative models to streamline and scale up care delivery for individuals at-risk for inherited cancer across rural and urban settings; as well as refine and test interventions to improve follow-up care for those with inherited cancer across diverse populations, and healthcare settings. Dr. Pal runs the Inherited Cancer Registry (ICARE), a free cancer registry for those who have a personal or family history of cancer who are interested in participating in inherited cancer research studies.

Dr. Pal is a member of numerous professional societies and committees, including the American College of Medical Genetics, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association of Cancer Research, and the Editor-In-Chief of the National Cancer Institute’s PDQ Cancer Genetics editorial board.

Dr. Pal is the vice chair of the NCCN Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast, Ovarian and Pancreatic Cancer Panel.
