Thomas W. Flaig, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Vice Chancellor for Research at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Dr. Flaig received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by an oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado.

As a translational researcher, Dr. Flaig focuses on the development of new therapies to treat urologic cancers. He has been the local Principal Investigator (Pl) of more than 25 clinical trials in bladder, prostate, and kidney cancer and the national Pl of 2 federally sponsored trials via the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG). Dr. Flaig also serves as the Pl of an ongoing translational laboratory in urologic cancers which focuses on therapeutic developments for urothelial carcinoma and prostate cancer.

Dr. Flaig is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. He also serves on the National Cancer lnstitute's Bladder Cancer Task Force, and the SWOG Genitourinary Committee, for which he Co-Chairs the Bladder subcommittee.

Dr. Flaig is Chair of the NCCN Bladder/Penile Cancer Panel and an editorial board member for JNCCN --Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
