Tarun Wasil, MD, is a practicing hematologist-oncologist at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. He also holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

A native of India, Dr. Wasil began his medical career at Government Medical College. He completed an internal medicine residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, during which time he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed an oncology/hematology fellowship at North Shore University Hospital and NYU School of Medicine. Before coming to the United States, Dr. Wasil continued his education in Canada, completing an observership in neurology, emergency medicine, and family medicine. Dr. Wasil also spent a year post-fellowship at The Feinstein Institute, working in the Immunology Lab led by Dr. Nicholas Chiorazz.

Dr. Wasil has years of diverse experience in a variety of cancer types, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, gastrointestinal malignancies, breast cancer, and lung cancer. He also is passionate about immunology. In his clinical practice, Dr. Wasil takes a patient-centered approach, providing individualized and personalized care to improve overall patient outcomes.

Dr. Wasil also is an active researcher. He has served as a clinical investigator for the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Research Consortium, the Cancer & Leukemia Group B, and the Community for Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP). He also has written numerous peer-reviewed publications.
