Shivan J. Mehta, MD, MBA, MSHP, is Associate Chief Innovation Officer at Penn Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine. He is also the Co-Director of Quality in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Mehta earned his medical degree and master’s in health policy research from the University of Pennsylvania and his master’s of business administration in health care management from the Wharton School. He completed a residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Penn Medicine.
Dr. Mehta leads the Acceleration Lab’s team of clinicians, designers, and software developers to develop, test, and implement new care delivery interventions across Penn Medicine. He also conducts health services research, exploring how health care systems can leverage behavioral economics, care redesign, and new technology to improve population health in areas such as colorectal cancer screening, hypertension, joint replacement, and hepatitis C screening.
Dr. Mehta is a member of the NCCN Colorectal Cancer Screening Panel.
