Sandip P. Patel, MD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, where he also serves as Co-Leader of the Experimental Therapeutics Programs and Deputy Director for the San Diego Center for Precision Immunotherapy. He is the Director of the UCSD Moores Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office.
Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine while performing research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at UCLA Medical Center and a hematology and medical oncology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Patel specializes in cancer immunotherapy and early-phase clinical trials involving immunotherapy across all types of cancer. His primary research interest is cancer immunotherapy and immunomodulation, with a specific focus on developing biomarkers for personalized immunotherapy with a focus in thoracic oncology. He is Co-Leader of the NRG Developmental Therapeutics and University of California Lung Cancer Consortium.
Dr. Patel is a member of the NCCN Management of Immunotherapy-Related Toxicity Panel and the NCCN Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer/Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma/Thymomas and Thymic Carcinomas Panel.
