Ronald S. Walters, MD, MBA, MHA, MS, is Associate Head for the Institute for Cancer Care Innovation and a breast cancer oncologist at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, among other roles.

Dr. Walters pursued his Master of Business Administration at the University of Houston. Business school provided him the opportunity to develop an appreciation for how hands-on experience in the profession helps foster a different perspective. He also completed master’s degrees in both health administration and the management of computing and information systems at Houston Baptist University.

Applying more than 40 years of experience and knowledge at MD Anderson, Dr. Walters is responsible for the professional aspects of clinical operations including Medical Informatics, the Tumor Registry, the Transfer Center, Managed Care Programs, and Uncompensated Charity Care. He serves on multiple institutional committees striving for improvements in patient care, research, and support systems.

Dr. Walters has been a member of the NCCN Board of Directors since 2012, has served on the NCCN Executive Committee since 2016, and was recently appointed Board Chair in March 2019. Additionally, he is a member of the NCCN Best Practices Committee, the NCCN Governance Committee, the NCCN Guidelines Steering Committee, and the NCCN Quality and Outcomes Committee.
