Peter E. Gabriel MD, MSE

Peter E. Gabriel, MD, MSE, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology and Chief Oncology Informatics Officer for the Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center. He is also Associate Director of the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation and a Senior Fellow in the Penn Institute of Biomedical Informatics.

Dr. Gabriel's work focuses on developing innovative technical infrastructure, workflows, and services that maximize the effective use of clinical information for quality improvement and clinical and translational research in cancer care. His primary areas of interest in informatics include electronic health records, electronic phenotyping, database design and clinical data warehouse development, and ontologies and standardized terminologies.

Dr. Gabriel has a technical background in computer science and engineering, clinical training in internal medicine, and subspecialty board certification in clinical informatics. Nationally, he is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Big Data Subcommittee and the Epic Oncology and Radiation Oncology Steering Boards.

Dr. Gabriel serves on the NCCN EHR Oncology Advisory Group and the EHR PRO Workgroup.
