Paul Fu, Jr., MD, MPH, is a pediatric hospitalist and the Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at City of Hope National Medical Center. He also is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics in the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and an Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Dr. Fu completed his undergraduate studies and medical school at Boston University, pediatric residency, chief residency, and general academic pediatrics fellowship at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and HRSA Maternal and Child Health fellowship at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
In his role as CMIO, Dr. Fu provides leadership to optimize the use of ConnectHope, City of Hope's electronic health record, as well as catalyze technology-based innovation to accelerate the delivery of high quality, patient-centered healthcare services to patients through digital health and Al/ML.
Dr. Fu's current research focuses upon the systems and processes necessary to leverage EHR data for translational research and evaluating the impact of health IT and eHealth innovation on health outcomes and health disparities in vulnerable populations.
Dr. Fu is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Informatics Association. He also is a member of the NCCN EHR Oncology Advisory Group and has served on several workgroups for the committee to improve workflows within cancer center electronic health records systems.
