Matthias Holdhoff MD, PhD

Matthias Holdhoff, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Oncology and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.

Dr. Holdhoff received his medical degree at Freie Universität Berlin and completed his dissertation at Charité University Medicine Berlin. He completed an internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and a medical oncology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, during which he also completed research training within the Ludwig Center for Cancer Genetics and Therapeutics (Kinzler/Vogelstein lab).

Dr. Holdhoff is a clinical translational investigator in neuro-oncology and an expert on brain cancers and central nervous system lymphomas. His research focuses on early phase, novel clinical trials in malignant gliomas, including glioblastomas, and translational biomarker research in brain cancers. He has led and contributed to numerous clinical trials, publications, and presentations in these areas.

He serves as Co-Director of the Brain Cancer Program at Johns Hopkins and as the Director of the Neuro-Oncology Fellowship Program. He is also the Director of the Solid Tumor Inpatient Service at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and he serves as faculty on the Janeway Firm of the Osler Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Holdhoff holds memberships with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Neuro-Oncology. He also is a member of the editorial board for Journal of Neuro-Oncology and Neuro-Oncology Practice and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several peer-reviewed publications, including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, Neurology, CNS Oncology and The Oncologist. Dr. Holdhoff is a past recipient of the ASCO Young Investigator Award and Merit Award, and received the Director's Teaching Award in Clinical Sciences from the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
