Maria M. Gonzalez, MPH, BS, is a dedicated leader with an extensive career in cancer care. She joined Stanford Healthcare in February 2021, where she is currently the Vice President for the Cancer Destination Service Line.
Before joining Stanford, Maria has shaped her cancer care experience in various academic and community institutions including the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (now FHCRC) and Virginia Mason Medical Center. She spent 20 years working in Southern California, crafting her expertise across community, academic, and hybrid-academic environments.
Maria's accomplishments span across several areas from clinical operations and quality to strategic service line integrations and regional collaborations. Her success is well-founded on her academic background, consisting of a Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology and a Master of Public Health from California State Fullerton. Maria's contributions to the field have been recognized nationally. She has spoken at the Institute of Medicine and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meetings on topics ranging from cancer research operations to clinician well-being and resilience. Maria is driven by her determination to improve cancer care delivery, with particular focus on justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and on providing patients with equitable access to clinical trials and comprehensive cancer care resulting in several published articles.
In personal terms, Maria is bilingual in English and Spanish, takes pride in her multicultural Latinx background, enjoys traveling with her family and cheering for her favorite football teams.
At present, she serves on the NCCN Board of Directors, the NCCN Affiliate Forum, the NCCN Governance Committee, the NCCN Best Practices Committee and as Secretary of the NCCN Executive Committee.
