Lucy R. Langer, MD, MSHS, is the National Medical Director of Oncology and Genomics at United Healthcare.
Dr. Langer earned her medical degree at Stanford University. She completed an internal medicine residency at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics Medical School, followed by a hematology and oncology fellowship at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where she earned a Master’s degree in Health Services Research. She is a graduate of the advanced course in cancer genetics through the City of Hope National Medical Center.
Dr. Langer's areas of expertise and interest include breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma, gastrointestinal malignancies, cancer genetics, cancer prevention, and survivorship. In addition to more than 20 years of experience in genetic research at some of the nation's leading institutions, Dr. Langer is well-known for her caring spirit. She believes strongly in evidence-based medicine and in being a steadfast advisor to her patients throughout their treatment journeys.
Dr. Langer previously held several positions with US Oncology, including Medical Director of Cancer Genetics, co-Medical Director of the Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing Program, and Chair of the National Policy Board Executive Committee. She continues to see patients in private practice at Compass Oncology, where she previously served as the Practice President.
Dr. Langer is a member of several processional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), the Oregon Society of Medical Oncology (OSMO), and the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG). She has been recognized as a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” and Portland Monthly Magazine “Top Medical Provider” several years in a row for her high-quality patient care.
