Jimmy J. Caudell, MD, PhD, is Associate Member and Vice-Chair for Clinical research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Caudell also holds the position of Associate Professor in the Departments of Oncologic Sciences and Radiation Oncology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Caudell received his medical degree from The University of Texas School of Medicine and his doctorate of philosophy in human and molecular genetics at The University of Texas Health Science Center. He subsequently completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, during which time he served as co-chief resident. Dr. Caudell is board-certified in radiation oncology.
Dr. Caudell specializes in the treatment of head and neck cancers and cutaneous malignancies with radiotherapy. His research interests include prediction of radiation sensitivity, evaluation of novel radiosensitizers and radioprotectants, as well as the use of technology to improve radiation delivery for head and neck cancer. He has served as the principal investigator (PI) or co-PI on a number of clinical studies in these areas.
Dr. Caudell is a member of the European Society of Radiotherapy & Oncology (ESTRO), the American College of Radiation Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the American Radium Society, and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)/NRG Head and Neck Steering Committee. He also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several peer-reviewed publications, including Annals of Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Head and Neck.
Dr. Caudell is a member of the NCCN Head and Neck Cancers Panel.
