Jane Yanagawa MD

Jane Yanagawa, MD, is a thoracic surgeon at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, and Director of Thoracic Surgery at UCLA-Santa Monica Hospital.
Dr. Yanagawa received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residencies at UCSD Medical Center, followed by fellowships at UCLA School of Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is board-certified in surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
Dr. Yanagawa has a thriving clinical practice in thoracic surgical oncology. She is a member of a multidisciplinary team experts at UCLA, serves on the UCLA Thoracic Oncology Program Tumor Board, and also contributes to the UCLA Sarcoma Tumor Board. Additionally, Dr. Yanagawa is a member of the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), a research partnership of regional health care delivery systems, academic medical centers, hospitals and community clinics focused on supporting the health needs of Los Angeles and the nation. She also performs lung cancer research as a Principal Investigator with a laboratory on campus.
Dr. Yanagawa's clinical and research background gives her a unique perspective and important skill set for performing research that aims to translate information expeditiously from the bench to the bedside. Her ultimate goal is to provide personalized cancer care.
Dr. Yanagawa is a member of several professional organizations, including Women in Thoracic Surgery and the NCCN Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Panel. She recently was nominated with Los Angeles Magazine’s “Top Doctors” and has been recognized by Southern California Super Doctors annually since 2016.
