Gregory J. Riely MD, PhD

Gregory J. Riely, MD, PhD, is Vice-Chair, Clinical Research in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he also serves as Ning Zhao and Ge Li Chair in Lung Cancer Research. Additionally, Dr. Riely holds a faculty position as Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Riely earned his medical degree and doctorate of philosophy from Case Western Reserve University. He completed his residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and fellowship at the MSKCC Memorial Hospital for Cancer & Allied Diseases and Weill Cornell Medical College. He is board-certified in internal medicine, with a subspecialty in medical oncology.
Dr. Riely specializes in the treatment of thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer and thymic malignancies. His clinical research focuses on developing novel therapies by designing and conducting clinical trials. Dr. Riely serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI for a number of ongoing clinical trials at MSKCC and has lectured and published extensively on these diseases.
Dr. Riely is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He previously served on the Thoracic Expert Panel for the American Joint Committee on Cancer.
Dr. Riely is Chair of the NCCN Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer/Malignant Pleural
Mesothelioma/Thymomas and Thymic Carcinomas Panel. He also serves on the NCCN COVID-19 Vaccination Advisory Committee, the JNCCN editorial board, as well as several committees for the NCCN Oncology Research Program.
