Daniel A. Pollyea MD, MS

Daniel A. Pollyea, MD, MS, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he also serves as the Clinical Director of Leukemia Services and the Robert H. Allen, MD Chair in Hematology Research.

Dr. Pollyea received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago Hospital and then served as Chief Medical Resident at Cook County Hospital. He completed a medical oncology and hematology fellowship at Stanford University, where he also earned a Master’s of Science degree in epidemiology, with an emphasis on biostatistics and clinical trial design.

Dr. Pollyea’s research interests include developing novel therapeutics for myeloid malignancies through collaborative laboratory-based efforts and clinical trials. Specifically, his work focuses on improving our understanding of the nature of leukemia stem cells and developing drugs that target this population to potentially allow for curative therapies. Dr. Pollyea has served as the Principal Investigator for multiple early-phase clinical trials and has received funding for his research from the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Dr. Pollyea is Chair of the NCCN Acute Myeloid Leukemia Panel and a member of the Editorial Board for JNCCN—Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. He also serves on a review committee for the NCCN Oncology Research Program.
