Charlene E. Stein, MHA, BSN, RN, OCN, serves as the Director of Oncology Clinical Operations at UT Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center, overseeing Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center clinical practice at its four locations. Prior to accepting this role in February 2024, Charlene served as the Regional Director for Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Charlene obtained her Master’s in Health Care Administration from Drexel University and is an oncology certified nurse. Prior to her time at UTSW, Charlene was the Penn State Cancer Institute Practice Site Manager Registered Nurse for the previous 5 years.
Charlene joined UTSW in 2021 and has been instrumental in growing the clinical and infusion operations at its regional sites, including those in Fort Worth and Richardson. In August 2022, she played a key role in the opening of the first ambulatory site of service infusion room at Redbird.
Charlene has a true passion for oncology. Alongside her peers, she has been a key contributor for various quality improvement and safety initiatives, both in multi-specialty clinics and infusion rooms. Leading alongside her teams, she has worked to provide the highest quality care for patients while ensuring the best patient experience.
Among her accomplishments, Charlene was recognized nationally in 2022 as one of the “40 under 40” in Cancer Award Recipients. Most recently, she was selected as one of the Dallas-Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses for 2024.
Charlene is a member of the NCCN Nursing Directors Forum and serves as an alternate member of the NCCN Best Practice Committee for UTSW.
