Bianca D. Santomasso, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Attending Physician in the Department of Neurology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Yale University, Dr. Santomasso attended the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program, obtaining her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College and her doctorate of philosophy in immunology from The Rockefeller University. She completed a residency in neurology at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She then completed a fellowship in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
As a neuro-oncologist and neurologist, Dr. Santomasso cares for people with primary and metastatic brain tumors as well as neurologic complications of cancer. She has additional clinical and research interests in the neurologic complications of cancer immunotherapies, including CAR T-cell therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
Dr. Santomasso's research focuses on understanding the mechanism of acute and chronic neurologic toxicities of cancer immunotherapies in order to develop novel interventions to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Santomasso is a member of the NCCN Management of Immunotherapy-Related Toxicity Panel.
