Amy M. Sitapati MD

Amy M. Sitapati, MD, is Professor of Medicine and a primary care physician at UC San Diego Health. She is Medical Director of Internal Medicine in La Jolla and leads the population health team that focuses on using computer systems to improve the quality of care.
Dr. Sitapati completed her medical residency training at UC San Diego School of Medicine and earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine. Dr. Sitapati is board-certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics.
Dr. Sitapati provides primary care for adults, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. She believes that the best health is achieved through life balance, patient empowerment, a good physician-patient relationship, and integrated care.
Dr. Sitapati is nationally recognized for her work in primary care. She strives to provide high quality, patient-centered care in ambulatory settings, and building multidisciplinary teams to effectively work together to improve patient care coordination. She combines evidence-based medicine with patient empowerment, prevention methods, and alternative medicine to help patients achieve their best health.
Dr. Sitapati is a breast cancer survivor (early stage with chemo/radiation/surgery) 5 years out and is heavily involved in health informatics. She recently had the opportunity to take part in a panel that incorporated national standards, quality improvement, and informatics.
Dr. Sitapati currently serves as a primary care panel member on the NCCN Breast Cancer Panel.
