Allison W. Kurian MD, MSc

Allison W. Kurian, MD, MSc, is Professor of Medicine and of Epidemiology and Population Health at Standord University School of Medicine. She is Director of the Women’s Clinical Cancer Genetics Program at Stanford Cancer Institute. She is also a practicing oncologist, treating patients with breast cancer.
Dr. Kurian received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She trained as an intern and resident in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and completed her fellowship training in Medical Oncology along with a master’s degree in Epidemiology at Stanford University.
Dr. Kurian’s research focuses on cancer genetics, precision oncology, and the quality of cancer care at the population level. Her research has been supported by the National Cancer Institute, the Komen Foundation, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the California Breast Cancer Research Program, the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the BRCA Foundation.
In her role as Director of the Women’s Clinical Cancer Genetics Program, Dr. Kurian focuses her clinical practice on women at high risk for developing breast and gynecologic cancers.
Dr. Kurian is a member of several professional organizations, including the External Advisory Board of the Basser Center for BRCA Research, the NCI CISNET Breast Cancer Working Group Steering Committee, and the ClinGen Hereditary Cancer Clinical Domain Working Group. She is a Specialty Editor for the ASCO Breast Cancer Advisory Panel.
Dr. Kurian is a member of the NCCN Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast, Ovarian, and Pancreatic Panel and Breast Cancer Risk Reduction Panel
