UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

Aaron C. Logan, MD, PhD, MPhil, is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Director of the Hematologic Malignancies Tissue Bank at UCSF.

Dr. Logan earned his medical degree and doctorate of philosophy in molecular microbiology and immunology from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowships in hematology and blood and marrow transplant at Stanford University.

Dr. Logan’s clinical practice focuses on caring for patients with acute leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, aplastic anemia, and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. As an active translational researcher, Dr. Logan runs a research laboratory focused on developing methods for evaluating clonotypic diversity in the B and T lymphocyte repertoires in patients, particularly following hematopoietic cell transplantation, bone marrow failure disorders, and congenital immune deficiencies. His team also focuses on applying immune repertoire profiling to quantify and track immune responses following allogeneic transplantation and to quantify measurable residual disease in lymphoid malignancies.

In addition to his clinical research, Dr. Logan leads the Hematologic Malignancies Tissue Bank (HMTB) at UCSF. During his tenure, the Tissue Bank has evolved into a robust resource for UCSF and the larger research community. By providing samples isolated from patients with a wide diversity of blood cancers, the UCSF HMTB supports local, regional, and national research efforts towards cooperative discovery and advancement in the treatment of hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Logan is a member of the NCCN Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Panel.
